Melbourne - your host city
Melbourne, sitting on the banks of the Yarra river, is a
beautiful city with a diverse heritage, a lively and cosmopolitan
pulse, and has been voted as one of the most livable cities
in the world. With its many grand and architecturally significant
buildings and spacious parks, Melbourne has developed as
the cultural, fashion, shopping, sporting and culinary centre
of Australia.
Melbourne city itself is laid out in a large
rectangle and give a sense of ‘everything in its place’
restraint. You will quickly find that this is only skin
deep as the city has a creative energy that is almost infectious.
The CBD is myriad distinct precincts - each with its own
flavour and charm. Weaving a maze through the city grid,
Melbourne’s streets and laneways uncover hidden treasures
and a charming, intimate atmosphere and are an absolute
must to explore it’s secret galleries, shops and cafes.
Melbourne has a well-deserved reputation for
offering a superb food and wine experience. Chic restaurants
serving a variety of cuisine types, inspirational chefs
and a lively café scene, not to mention an array
of boutique wineries circling the city, are just some of
the reasons why Melbourne is considered the height of gastronomic
excellence. For food, art and fashion lovers, Melbourne
is heaven.
Weather
Melbourne weather is renowned for it’s changeability,
so we would advise you to bring an umbrella and don't forget
to bring a warm coat, hat and gloves (if you really feel
the cold). Day time temperatures in May can range from 12°C
to 22°C with night time temperature as low as 4°C
to 6°C so you will need a coat for the evening.
