VENUE DETAILS

Alice Springs Convention Centre is located opposite the Todd River at the foot of the McDonnell ranges. The Alice Springs town centre is only a short distance away.

A Town Like Alice
Located in the heart of Central Australia nestled between the East and West MacDonnell Ranges. The traditional owners of the area are Central Arrente peopleand members of the Mparntwe, Antulue and Irlpme groups have had responsibility for the land within the Municipality of Alice Springs since time immemorial. Australia's famous outback town is a place like no other, it is a vibrant modern town which still has a strong sense of its history with a thriving population of 28 000 people and is an iconic travel destination – a ‘must see’ part of Australia!

Alice Springs is a perfect base to explore the nearby stunning MacDonnell Ranges, visit Uluru (Ayers Rock) or Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), fossick for gemstones and enjoy many other such as Kings Canyon, Glen Helen Gorge, and Stanley Chasm in the vast unspoiled wonders of Australia's Red Centre. Whilst in Alice Springs you can visit the Alice Springs Desert Park, see Aboriginal art and artefacts at the Aboriginal Art and Culture Centre and local galleries. Visit attractions in the area such as the Alice Springs Telegraph Station and Homestead, Frontier Camel Park and Pitchi Ritchi Sanctuary.

Weather
Don't forget to bring a warm coat, hat and gloves. Day time temperatures in July can range from 20°C to 30°C with night time temperature as low as 2°C to 7°C. The winter weather daytime in Alice Springs is generally warm, around 24°C in the middle of the day, however the temperatures at night can drop dramatically and you will need a coat for the evening. What you will experience is a dry arid desert environment with continual blue skies and an average rainfall of less than 30ml per year. So, no rain expected in July.

Accommodation
The organising committee has secured special accommodation rates at Lasseters Hotel next to the Convention Centre and Voyages Resort for conference attandees. Other hotels will be added to our list as negotiated rates are available. In addition to these there is a wide variety of accomodation at and around the Alice Springs area including 5 star resort accommodation, hotel and motel accommodation, Alice Springs apartments and for the budget traveller, caravan parks.

Other information
Alcohol Restrictions do apply in Alice Springs.
There is No drinking in designated public places in Alice Springs, however you can still drink in private and licensed premises like homes, hotels, caravan parks, restaurants, bars, sporting venues and with licensed tour operators.
